London: The Hogarth Press. 1st printing (1939). 255pp. Original blue cloth with gilt titles to spine. GOOD+ copy, binding square and tight, front cover has some staining, spine darkened but gilt bright, head of spine a little worn, split to cloth along almost entire rear spine edge now reglued, internally very good and unmarked, no dust jacket. Acquired from the library of English Establishment artist Sir Lawrence Gowing (1918-1991), ex-husband of English writer and Bloomsbury group member Julia Strachey (1901-1979), although no provenance . Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1939.
Synopsis
Party Going is a 1939 novel by British writer Henry Green. It tells the story of a group of wealthy people travelling by train to a house party. Due to fog, however, the train is much delayed and the group takes rooms in the adjacent large railway hotel. All the action of the story takes place in the hotel.
