New York: Alfred A. Knopf for the Society of Calligraphers, Printed at the Plimpton Press, Norwood, MA, 1928. Hardcover. 8vo (8" x 6"), half black cloth, patterned paper, paper label at spine. LXXXII, [2] pp. Author signature at colophon. Bookplate at front pastedown. CONDITION: Near-fine, slightly bumped spine, minimal wear to extremities, label faded. Number 56 of an edition of "540 copies of this first formal publication of the Society" of Calligraphers, a fictional society invented by Dwiggins to promote his ideas on book-design and market himself to other more prominent presses (Shaw).
