About This Item
Paris: F.-L. SCHMIED, 1930. First Edition. Paperback. Fine/near fine. A fresh copy in the original wrapers, housed in the original plain blue chemise and slipcase (aged but no splits). There is faint bit of spotting to the wrapper, nearly invisible (see photo). The contents are completely fine and without even a hint of foxing, wear, or soiling. Loose in sheets as issued. Rare in sheets suitable for display. Easily one of the most beautiful books printed in the 20th century. One of 177 copies printed on Japon, signed by Schmied. "The title page illustration was the most intricate of all of Schmied's illustrations, requiring some forty-five different blocks to achieve the lacquer-like quality he wanted." Ritchie 35. A beautiful copy of a beautiful book.
