Henry Green was the pen name of Henry Vincent Yorke (1905-1973) was an English author best remembered for the novels Party Going, Living and Loving. He published a total of nine novels between 1926 and 1952. This is a book of recollection and interpretation written just before the Second World War, when the author had the presentiment that time was running short. In it he describes his upbringing in a manor house near Tewkesbury, years at school and at Oxford, and the reasons that led him to go to work in a factory. Clean copy. Record # 381630

Synopsis

Henry Green was the pen name of Henry Vincent Yorke. He was born in 1905 at the family home of his parents, near Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire, England, and was educated at Eton and Oxford. He worked at the family engineering firm for most of his life and pursued a parallel career as a novelist. He married in 1928 and had one son. During WWII he served in the London Fire Brigade. He died in December 1973.
