Hartford, CT: A. D. Worthington and Company. Good. 1883. Second Edition. Hardcover. Woodcuts and chromo-lithographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 653 pages; 1883 A. D. Worthington and Company. HC 2nd edition. In original brown cloth with pictorial title design in gilt to cover and spine. Gilt at spine rubbed and dulled. Binding shaken and tender. Splits in the lining pages in the hinges have been archivally reinforced with japanese paper. Cloth with shallow fray and loss at spine ends; corner bumped and rubbed through at tips. A few signatures starting slightly at the front edge. Several pages, including the title page and one of the 6 tissue guarded chromo-litho plates have short edge tears which we have mended with archival paper tape. Occasional light spotting to the poor quality page stock which is toned and easily torn if not handled with care. Small prior owner name stamp in the gutter of the Dedication page. Numerous woodcut plates and 6 chromo plates illustrated the book, one of significance for a 1st hand account of life during the Indian Wars. Good only .
