About This Item
Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc. Book. Good. Hardcover. 1948, 340pp, bibliography. Front cover and top page ends lightly dampstained, else G. Herbert Clark Hoover, (1874-1964), born in Iowa, was the 31st President of the United States. He was a mining engineer by trade and the first President to donate his salary. The great stock market crash happened after Hoover was in office only a few months and as the Great Depression took hold, many people blamed him for it. Though a Republican, he was appointed by President Harry Truman to head the Hoover Commission, an agency given the task of making the federal bureaucracy more efficient. (Good luck with that.).
