Some light staining to margins.<br/><br/> Original drawing from Our Lost Explorers: The Narrative of the Jeannette Arctic Expedition, As Related by the Survivors, And in the Records and Last Journals of Lieutenant De Long by Raymond Lee Newcomb, naturalist on the Jeannette Expedition (see SKU# 237672); this work can be found as an illustration on page 330. The Jeannette Expedition of 1879-81, officially the U.S. Arctic Expedition, was an attempt led by George W. De Long to reach the North Pole by pioneering a route from the Pacific Ocean through the Bering Strait.<br/><br/>
