Full red cloth stamped in green Art Nouveau design, color illustration mounted on front cover (two girls skating on ice), and edges gilt. Edges of boards moderately worn, lower front corner worn, color illustration bit soiled and rubbed; title page worn, verso has series of brown crayon lines, long tear to p.49-50, corner of one plate creased, rear hinge partly cracked, rest of interior largely very good, occasional spots. With 23 tipped-in color plates. Artists include Louis Wain, Wm. E. Evans, L. Renouf, Harry B. Nielson, P. U. Riddle, F. N. Williamson, many others. Once disturbing story pictures a white boy using a whip to a black doll tied to a chair.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 288 pages .
