London: Elliot Stock, 1880. Book. Good. Hardcover. First Edition. 4to [25 x 19 cm]. Quarter Vellum. Pp..viii, 115; b/w in-text illustrations. Original quater vellum over bleu paper-covered boards with paper title label pasted on to the front board. binding somewhat worn and marked with the signature of "Henry Kain's-Jackson" to the front board, presumably a relative of the author's, but binding remains strong. Contents good and tight, end papers browned, the front with a pasted on contemporary review of the book that appeared in the Daily Telegraph July 1 1880, and a review from the Daily News on the rear end paper. Top edge cut, other edges uncut, thick paper which is generally unmarked. A good to very good copy. "Early monuments in England, many dating from prehistoric times. An extensive review of stone circles, pillars, cairns, and earthworks.".
