[5], vi-xxi, [2], 2-458, [2] pp. Red publisher's cloth with two black borders on each board, gilt lettering and rules on the spine. Yellow coated endpapers and pastedowns. New edition, from the sixth English edition, with additions and corrections. A sharp example of a later edition of Darwin's monumental treatise on biology, forever changing the field. A touch of wear to the cloth, an 1877 name on the first blank leaf.
