Brought out to accompany the museum exhibition dealing with the life and work of the Orkney born Victorian explorer John Rae who travelled in Arctic Canada in the 1840s and 1850s. Contains pieces by several authors, namely: ''Childhood in Orkney'' by Bryce Wilson, ''Early Arctic Exploration'' by Ian Bunyan, ''Rae in the Arctic'' by Jenni Calder, ''Rae and the Native Canadians'' and ''Rae as Collector and Ethnographer'' by Dale Idiens. 116pp, colour and b&w illustration throughout..
