Clean blue cloth boards with gold lettering on spine. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Pages and edges are clean with clean endpapers - no names, writing or bookplates. 179 pages. Dust jacket is not price clipped, slight age-toning, chip at base of rear panel, shallow chipping at base of spine, 1-1/2" closed tear near top front spine fold; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Here, published for the first time as he wrote it at the age of twenty-two, is John Dos Passos' first book. An autobiographical novel, impressionistic in style, it is noteworthy for its colorful descriptions of France during World War I and for its passionate indictment of war..
