Publisher's full green leather, spine in four compartments separated by raised bands, gilt lettering in two compartments, gilt tooling in remainder, gilt lettering and decoration on cover, all edges gilt, printed endpapers, silk ribbon marker bound in, Smyth sewing and concealed muslin joints. Color and pen-and-ink illustrations by Wendy Snow-Lang. William Olaf Stapledon (1886 – 1950), known as Olaf Stapledon, was a British philosopher and author of influential works of science fiction. Stapledon's writings directly influenced Arthur C. Clarke, Brian Aldiss, Stanislaw Lem, Bertrand Russell, John Gloag, Naomi Mitchison, C. S. Lewis, Vernor Vinge, John Maynard Smith, and indirectly influenced many others, contributing many ideas to the world of science fiction. "Odd John" was first published in 1935. .
