First American Edition (published "September, 1910" stated on copyright page). 373 pages with Appendices and Index; illustrated with 8 full-page plates reproducing photographic enlargements colored by hand; 100 illustrations in black-and-white from photographs and with fold-out map at rear in colors by Gilbert H. Grosvenor, including tissue-protected color frontis. Introduction by Theodore Roosevelt and Foreward by Gilbert H. Grosvenor. Peary was a famous Arctic explorer and allegedly the first explorer to successfully reach the North Pole by applying the methods and customs of the Eskimo. Showing just light wear and rubbng to exterior, internally clean. A collectable copy with the fold-out color map at rear. First American Edition. Cloth. Very Good. Tall Octavo.
