About This Item
"NEWCASTLE FISHERS' GARLANDS" - A Collection of Right Merrie Garlands for North Country Anglers, edited by Joseph Crawhall. 1864; George Rutland; Newcastle-on-Tyne, United Kingdom. The book is a compilation of content from past publications of "The Fisher's Garland" from 1820 to 1864. At the back of the book is a Memorial to Izaak Walton, best know as the author of "The Compleat Angler."
"Dedicated to the Members of the Coquet-Dale Angling Club, with an earnest hope that the lines herein cast may perchance rise some stray Roxby or Doubleday of that honourable body, and induce an attempt to resume and continue the Newcastle Fishers' Garlands, so charmingly set forth by the spirits of a former generation."
Condition:
Some areas of bubbling under the cloth on the front cover; sharp corners; bright gilt lettering on the spine; light soiling to front and back covers. Tight binding. No cracks. No loose pages. Occasional foxing to a handful of random pages...otherwise, the pages are clean and white with no writing, stains or tears found. Light foxing to long edge of the text block. Overall in very good condition.
