Color pictorial endpapers; 16 color plates and numerous illustrations in two colors. Spine ends and corners lightly worn, two slight indentations at top of front board, small puncture mark to rear cover near spine, lower corners of covers and sheets bumped, else a clean, tight copy.
Second edition, second state, binding state C. The first reissue of this beloved tale, having been issued by Bobbs-Merrill after the original publisher, George M. Hill went bankrupt (hence the word "NEW" in the title). As this occurred during the record-breaking run on Broadway of The Wizard of Oz musical, this edition was quickly brought out and enjoyed brisk sales. Baum's iconic American story featuring the adventures of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion as they journey across Oz in search of the Wizard. Bienvenue p7.
Synopsis
When Nancy searches through the knapsack of an amnesia victim, she finds an unusual ring. Before long, she is caught up in a second assignment from a beautiful harpist. Nancy's discoveries reveal an important connection between the hospital patient, the harpist, and enemies from abroad.
