About This Item
London, East Sussex, United Kingdom: The Bodley Head Ltd, 1948. BC4 - A complete book with the usual library stamps, labels, pocket and notes in pencil on the inside surface of the front board and title page plus part of one of the endflaps of the original dust jacket pasted to the front endpaper plus an advertisement from the same dust jacket is pasted down to the inside surface of the back board plus the front hinge is loose plus the cloth is heavily sun faded especially along and around the spine and the top and right edges plus there is scattered red-brown spots and stains on both the front and back cloth plus there are very small (less than 0.25") tears to the loose cloth at the bottom left corners plus there are the original library catalog numbers on the spine in white. There is no dust jacket. This is a book of material first published in the three volumes "The Athenians," "Harriet and Mary," and "Shelly at Oxford" by The Golden Cockerel Press as limited editions. These were published not long after they were discovered towards the middle of the 20th century. The editor colected the majority of this correspondence here without annotation and commentary. This collection contains one additional letter never before printed and is preceded by a new introduction written by the editor for this volume. Illustrated with black and white photo reproductions including reproductions of original letters. 169p.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
