About This Item

Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Fine. No DJ. Pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is not creased or split; text is secure in binding. 221 pp 8vo. Laid-in is a bookmark from the author with his personal information on it. The author wrote this book to bring forth a more factual story of the events and history of the end of WWII from the perspective of an Army private on the ground with all the misery and witness to combat and war. The author enlisted in the Army in early 1942 and after training was placed in the 42nd Division and went to Europe and the Battle of the Bulge. Lucky to survive, he fought with his unit across Europe and was there for the liberation of the Death Camp at Dachau in April 1945 and finally separated from service in January 1946. During his service time he received thirteen major decorations including a Silver Star. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and in Northern France. He served under General Patton's 3rd Army during the invasion of Germany. He bore witness to the horrors of war as he aided the liberation of the death camp at Dachau in 1945. His memories of the heroes and trials of war are both vivid and chilling in this meticulous memoir. A clean very presentable copy.
