London: White, Cochrane & Co.. Good. 1813. Hard Cover. Bound in three-quarter morocco over marbled boards with five raised bands on the spine. Top edge gilt. With twelve engraved plates, including the hand-colored "Hybrid Pheasent" and the multifolding frontispiece panorama of Selborne. Front board is neatly detached from spine, though binding remains solid. Bookplate (John William Pease) on front pastedown. A few penciled notations in the margins. Foxing throughout with a minor damp stain to bottom of pages towards the end of the book, otherwise an excellent copy of this early printing of this ground-breaking work in natural history. A classic of English literature. No inked inscriptions. Not ex-library. ; 4to; x, 587 pages .
