Frankfurt: Ed Gust May, 1840. Print. Very good condition. Period colored lithograph of native women representing America and Africa. Set within two oval frame borders, both women are dressed with colorful and ornate decoration - the woman of America with colorful feathers, a bow and arrow, and red drape; the woman of Africa with feathers in her hair, elaborate necklace, blue cape and a parrot, with a pyramid in the background. Images have attractive period color highlighted with gum arabic. 11 3/4 x 8 1/4", each portrait 5 x 6 1/2", text below written in English, French & Russian.
