About This Item

Stated First US Edition/First Printing; A Very Good or better book in a Very Good dust jacket. A handsome copy of this critically acclaimed novel by the author of "Rebecca" and basis for the fine film starring Rachel Weisz; the first US edition appears to be relatively scarce in collectible condition. This copy is in very good or better condition with some mild age toning to the spine and board edges, some light soiling to the exterior text block, a PO bookplate is present to the front free paper, and some moderate rubbing to the spine ends. Housed in a clean and bright very good dust jacket that shows some moderate rubbing, chipping and creasing to the edges and corners, a couple of closed tears to the edges and flap folds, including a relatively long closed tear to the front flap fold, and a couple of small tears to the spine. Overall, a presentable and collectible copy of an important 20th century book; Not remaindered, not price clipped, not ex-library; in a protective Mylar cover and will ship in a sturdy box.

Synopsis

My Cousin Rachel is a novel by British author Daphne du Maurier, published in 1951. Like the earlier Rebecca, it is a mystery-romance, largely set on a large estate in Cornwall.

i was looking for Ms DuMaurier's books in a rare fit of nostalgia...i purchased this one---JAMAICA INN---and FRENCHMAN'S CREEK---a rather BigThree from my pre-teen years...as far as the writing goes/went...this book is highbrow Gothic...mannered i style nowadays but boy howdy Daphne can conjure up a few chills...i am not big on Romance Novels but this one plus the other two will give an idea of what real Writing is...in a non-highbrow genre....word up, y'all!!!
