German language social history of musical theater in Hamburg, Germany, bound in quarto hardcover format, decorative floral-patterned wallpaper over boards, sharp, barely abraded paper labels to front cover and spine. Plentiful mounted illustrations, some in full color, including at frontis, depicting a performance in 1817 in Hamburg. The publisher's blurb, translated, has it that "This book will be published on the occasion of the 260th anniversary of the Hamburg Opera [.] by a group of Hamburg opera friends." Plentiful depictions of sets of the opera, floor plans of stage designs, scenes from particular opera, etc. Beautiful black-and-white initials, headers and tails, and printed on fine, hand-pressed paper, bound finely.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
