New York: E.P. Dutton & Co, 1943. First edition. Hardcover. 284pp. Octavo [19.5 cm] Yellow and red cloth covered boards. Fair only. Ex-library The covers are gently bumped and rubbed. There are multiple small stains on the covers. The spine is heavily rolled, and the cloth at the head of the spine and the corners is frayed. The underlying boards are just peeking through at the bottom corners. The front endsheet is very darkened and glue stained. Library stamps on the endsheets. The pages are mildly browned. A small portion of the original dust jacket has been laid in. This is the first book from the author who later won the Pulitzer Prize in 1950 for The Way West.
