This title was awarded the 1961 Southern California Council on Literature for Children and Young People Award for "significant contribution in the field of illustration." Inscribed, with an original watercolor of Chinese laterns, by Leo Politi on the front flyleaf. Quarto. Original red cloth binding, with pictorial white stamping. Small ink ownership stamp to the front pastedown. Some very light wear and browning to the extremities of the dust jacket; else near fine.
