This volume is a celebration of the life of Edward Beveridge Binnie, (born on the Falkland Islands in 1884) the eighth child of immigrant Scottish parents. The book traces his rise from humble beginnings through Falkland Islands Government service to becoming the first Antarctic Magistrate.

London: Chatto & Windus, 1908. Signed gift inscription from the author. First edition. Green cloth boards, with illustrated vignette and gilt decorations to the front. Gilt title and decorations to the spine. Charming story, with b/w illustrations throughout. 200 x 150 mm (7¾ x 6 inches). Boards are a little bumped and rubbed. Light soiling. Page edges are toned, and prelims have some light foxing. Overall a good signed copy.

Frankfurt: A.M. Mallet, 1719. The mounts have very slight bumping, but are in good, clean condition. The plates are good impressions, and cleanly mounted. Plate 71 has a slight crease to the right edge, with a "crack" of loss of ink. This would seem to have occurred at the time of printing. Overall in very nice condition. . A pair of copper engravings of the heavens. The first shows Three globes are floating in the sky, an active seaside scene across the bottom including boats, an old coastal village scene, etc. The globes show the Anteciens, the Perieciens and the Antipodes. These are two small to have been of use to a navigator, and were purely decorative. This is numbered plate 49 to the corner. The second, labeled plate 71 shows a pastoral scene, above which there is a disc showing the sun and the astrological symbols. These were issued by A.M.
