About This Item
London: William Blackwood & Sons, 1912. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. First edition, with the publisher's advertisments in the rear dated "12/11". A collection of ten short stories and ten poems. The stories "Space" and "The Grove of Ashtaroth" which bibliographer Everett F. Bleiler considers to be "among Buchan's best work." Octavo: xiv, 324, 64 p. Original black cloth binding, with gilt and silver stamping. Light foxing to the prefatory leaves and along the edges. The ink signature and bookplate of noted collector Wilson King appear on the front endpaper, with a small label to the rear pastedown. The hinges are just starting and still quite sound. Light fading along the spine, with some minor wear to the corners and tips; otherwise very good.
