Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing, mild to end-papers and text-block edges. Free end paper excised. Stains to page, over text on page 248-9. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout however binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Sunning to spine. Gilt lettering is darkened. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Cloth has minor damp and dust stains.

Cloth has damp stain at bottom edge, tiny amount of wear at edge of spine, otherwise Good condition. No inscriptions

Houghton, Mifflin, January 1883. Hardcover. Used - Good/No Jacket. This book has been nicely rebound in brown cloth with a blind stamped edge. The original leather spine title has been glued to the cloth binding on the spine. Black endpages. No markings. Gilt top edges. A lovely book. We have other volumes in this set.

Book has rubbing and edgewear to boards and spine, binding tight, small ink marks to front pastedown, small stain to top corner of front flyleaf, mild soil to front endpapers, otherwise text clean and unmarked but toned throughout, with handsome gilt to top edge of block.
