About This Item

London: Jonathan Cape, 2004. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good -/Very Good -. This is the first printing of the first UK edition, with a complete number line. This title was printed first in the US, with the UK edition appearing about a year later. The UK edition, however, is the rarer of the two. The interior of the book is crisp and clean, with no marks or wear. The purple covers are bright and show little wear, but there is a faint stain on top edge of the back cover, mirrored on the back of the dust jacket. The dust jacket is not price-clipped and has only minor edgewear. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: This is the last of the "Wolves Chronicles". Dido Twite is captured and imprisoned by Baron Rudh and the Duchess of Burgundy. The old kingis dying, and they hope to put an impostor on the throne. Meanwhile Simon Battersea is struggling to hide the ailing king, and find the ancient coronet that must be used to crown the true successor. Between them, Simon and Dido defeat the plots and strategems of the Burgundians, and when Jamie III does die, Simon becomes the new king
