About This Item

Norman: OU, 1985. First Thus. Hardcover. Collectible Fine/Very Good. 1st printing of the fine reprint by OU Press. Cloth. 304pp. Illustrated with some photos. Maps. Chronology. Bibliography. Index. Editor's Introduction. Presentation to a "friend and colleague" and signed by Lane. Footnoted & annotated extensively by Lane, this is the definitive edition of Freeman's rare & important 1890 work on Caldwell, Kansas, with much on outlawry in Southern Kansas & the old Cherokee Strip. Laid into this copy is a dated (8/24/87) handwritten note signed by Lane, "C___ F____ has my permission to reproduce pages from Midnight and Noonday for use in her Western Lit class." There is, online, references to the female professor this copy is inscribed to, and I think it may be the same person, I cannot be for certain so will give the name only upon request. Fine in vg dj. 6-guns 763 (but Adams mistakenly confuses issues), Herd 843, 150 #56, Howes F353, Graff 1411, Dobie p121, Dykes Kid 21, cf Rader 1472, Reese 39.
