Inscribed to Scientist and Polymath Herbert Spenser (1820-1903). The latter, a notable English intellect credited with coining the term "survival of the fittest," after reading Darwin's 'On the Origin of The Species.' He became the most famous philosopher of the age. 21 lithographed plates, some in color. Interior contents clean, bright and fresh.
