About This Item

Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Page & Co., 1923. Merton Gill fantasizes about being a star on screen, so he moves to Hollywood and gets a chance. He is such a poor actor that he is used for comedy when he thinks being dramatic. Early reprint with all six plates present from the 1922 Broadway production, adapted by George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly. Facsimile autographs of the play's stares Glenn Hunter and Florence Nash on the front end paper. Filmed three times, most recently in 1947 starring Red Skelton. Lightly bumped and rubbed with a touch of wear at the edges. Drip mark and foxing to the upper edge of the text block. Previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown. Binding square and solid.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket.
