New York: Alfred A Knopf, 1932. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good-/Good. Signed by Author(s). Inscribed by Hanley to Joseph Greene on ffep. Stated First Edition. Gray cloth boards stamped in burgundy and black on spine, with a black pictorial on the front cover (same vignette on title page). Cloth shows some foxing/discoloration on spine and around edges. Interior is clean and unmarked. xi, 297, [2] pages. Dust jacket is edgeworn; chipped around spine ends and corners; some color bleed in the lower-left corner of front panel; in an archival mylar sleeve. Inscribed to Joseph Greene, an early friend of Hanley's in Liverpool, to whom he also dedicated his first novel, Drift. ''To my friend Joseph Greene / with all [good wishes?] / James Hanley''.
