My System (German: Mein System) is a book on chess theory written by Aron Nimzowitsch. Originally over a series of five brochures from 1925 to 1927, the book—one of the early works on hypermodernism—introduced many new concepts to followers of the modern school of thought. It is generally considered to be one of the most important books in the history of chess.

This edition has been valued and sought after as a chess classic since it appeared

Condition: Nimzowitsch's handwritten signature on title of first part. Previous owner's name on title of several other parts. Slightly toned on the inside with a few creases. Covers dusty, partially faded, slightly bumped and with some small defects, issue 1 slightly stained else a very good set.

(Bibliotheca van der Linde-Niemeijeriana: 5394) First edition.The chess club in Hannover, Germany celebrated its fifty year anniversary by organizing a small, international chess master tournament in 1926. Eight players were invited to participate, including two very strong masters: Aron Nimzowitsch from Denmark, and Akiba Rubinstein from Poland. They met with six German chess masters that included Jacques Mieses, Friedrich Sämisch, Oscar Antze, Hans Duhm, Hermann Von Gottschall, and Walther Von Holzhausen. Games were played from August 9th to the 18th. Nimzowitsch won with a near perfect score of 6½ of 7, edging out Rubinstein by half a point. The prizes were awarded to the players at the Hotel Luisenhof. Typed letter from Harry Golombek to a reader's query about a game score in the August issue of British Chess Magazine 1954. Signed by Golombek in pencil.

Harry Golombek OBE (March 1, 1911â€"January 7, 1995), was a British chess International Master and honorary grandmaster, chess arbiter, and chess author.

He was three times British chess champion, in 1947, 1949, and 1955. He was the chess correspondent of The Times newspaper from 1945 to 1989. He was an official of the Fédération Internationale des Échecs, and served as Arbiter for several important events, including the Candidates' Tournament of 1959 in Yugoslavia. He was also editor of some well-known collections of games such as Capablanca's and Réti's, and was a well respected author. He was editor of British Chess Magazine from 1938 to 1940, and its overseas editor throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Golombek also translated several chess books from Russian into English. First edition.Mar del Plata has a rich history of chess tournaments, including their international chess tournament and open tournament. There is also an annual city tournament, which had its first edition in 1946, and reached its 62nd edition in 2007. The international tournament started off in 1928, but only in the period from 1941 to 1970 was it a truly international tournament with considerable reputation. After 1970, only seven international tournaments have been played. The 1951, 1954, 1969 and 2001 editions were zonal tournaments. The 1958 contest was held at the Hotel Provincial in Mar del Plata. and is part of an iconic beachfront complex, built in 1946 by the celebrated architect Alejandro Bustillo.

He collected two-movers and used this collection to detect anticipations. He participated to the edition of many books of the White Christmas Series such as Changing Fashions, Valves and Bi-Valves, Flights of Fancy in the Chess World and The Good Companion Two-Mover published in 1922.Gilbert S Dobbs (1867-1941) was an American problemist who specialized in two-movers. 19 unpaginated tournament bulletins (approximately 55 pages) with tables. Octavo (8 1/2" x 5 1/2) bound in individual bulletin wrappers. First edition.The first Argentine Chess Championship was held in 1921. The Champion's title was granted after victorious or drawn match between previous champion and challenger, a winner of Torneo Mayor. The matches were done away in 1950 year, except for 1952. From 1953 the tournament was changed to an all-round invitation, although in many cases it was played with the Swiss system.
The 33rd championship was played in 1955 with Miguel Najdorf the victor in a twenty player contested event. Hector Rossetto was a clear second with a score of 14.5 one and half points behind the leader, followed by Erich Eliskases at 13.5.Condition:Edge wear, occasional notes, punch hole to hinges, hand drawn cross table indicating game pages else a very good copy.
