Map endpapers showing the Mediterranean Sea and countries around it. 25 line drawings. 635 pp. including index. author also wrote "The Nile", comparable to a human life from birth to death, an epic course. Author began this book as he lived on the Mediterranean in 1939, knowing its shores and peoples.
