About This Item
New York, New York: Harcourt Brace & World, Inc, 1963. First Thus . Hardcover. Good-/Very Good. Shepard, Mary. Second book in the exciting children's series about the lovable & magical nanny to the Banks family of Cherry-Tree Lane. Orig. published in 1935, this is the First Edition on this 1963 reprint, republished to coincide with the opening of the new Disney movie starring Julie Andrews & Dick Van Dyke. Blurb about that movie on front DJ cover; otherwise, identical to the original, in 268 pages, with illustrations throughout & decorative endpapers by Mary Shepard. Hardcover book has gray cloth-covered boards with embossed design & lettering in black to front cover & spine. Because it is an Ex-Lib copy, with usual stamps & markings, remains of torn-out card pocket in front, condition is downgraded to Fair: generally clean, but many small spots & stains, especially to outside page edges, from previous readers. Binding shaky, front hinge cracking. straight & strong, pages off-white. Cloth at both ends of spine is fraying & corners are bumped. NO writing/underlining/highlighting. Because it was protected under library mylar, the DJ is VG+: bright & colorful with extremely mild edgewear. Old mylar removed & replaced with new--looks lovely! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
Synopsis
Pulled down from the clouds at the end of a kite string, Mary Poppins is back. In Mary’s care, the Banks children meet the King of the Castle and the Dirty Rascal, visit the upside-down world of Mr. Turvy and his bride, Miss Topsy, and spend a breathless afternoon above the park, dangling from a clutch of balloons.
