About This Item
MP3 Audio CD. Mary Louise Solves a Mystery ? A Perfect Family Book for Kids and Teenagers
Alora is a young girl of only 11 years if age, whose faith is left uncertain after her mother dies, and leaves Alora, as well as her entire estate and inheritance, into the hands of her ex-husband. Neglected for years, it became clear that Alora never felt she could connect with her father. However, as Mary Louise befriends her and digs a little deeper, she realizes that something is definitely off between the two.
L. Frank Baum writes this novel as Edith Van Dyne. Meant as a family book with no real crimes, but plenty of mysteries and intrigue to uncover, Mary Louise Solves a Mystery is actually the third in a series of mystery novels written for the entire family, that this time features the heroine, Mary Louise, appearing much later in the story than in any of the other books.
While the setting may seem outdated, fans of the genre will be excited to read the rich descriptions of older buildings and areas, as well as the more meaningful differences between the classes that L. Frank Baum constantly focuses on. At the same time, Mary Louise's talents for deduction and for uncovering the secrets behind mysteries just like this one will definitely not fall short of anyone's expectations, quickly becoming the highlight of the story, as the plot progresses into uncharted territory.
You will definitely find plenty of enjoyable aspects while reading this book, and even if young Alora's story doesn't bring you at least some interest, you will find the second part of the book more exciting.
L. Frank Baum further enriches this novel with his exemplary writing style, and even though this is not exactly The Wizard of Oz, Mary Louise Solves a Mystery can definitely be counted among the most beloved and well-written novels created by the famous American author.
