New York and London: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1924. Volume 1 only (of 2). Near Fine condition. An unusually bright, shiny, square, tight copy. Sharp corners. NO owner's name or bookplate. Endpapers have just a few light brown spots (minor foxing). All other pages are bright white, clean, crisp and unmarked. Bound in the original, dark blue cloth. The cloth covers still have that new book gloss and luster. NO fading. NO rubbing. The gilt lettering on the spine, and Twain's gilt-stamped signature on the front cover, are also still bright and shiny. Top edge gilt. Volume 1 only (of 2). This is an early printing, with publisher's code L-Y (November 1924) for a book first published in August 1924. Illustrated with a tissue-guarded frontispiece photograph of Twain (taken in 1906) and a facsimile page of the book's manuscript, in Twain's handwriting. Index. See BAL 3537. .
