London: Cassell and Company, Ltd,, 1926. Handsomely bound copy of his debut novel First edition, first impression, of the author's first book, presented here in a fine binding by the Chelsea Bindery. For this aerial drug-smuggling adventure, Nevil Shute Norway dropped his last name, a decision he upheld throughout his literary career to avoid the risk of damaging his reputation as a professional aeronautical engineer. Octavo. Finely bound by the Chelsea Bindery in dark blue morocco, titles and decoration to spine gilt, raised bands, twin rule to turn-ins gilt, blue and white patterned endpapers, gilt edges. Some mild foxing to prelims otherwise an excellent copy in a fine binding.
Synopsis
Marazan is the first published novel by British author, Nevil Shute. It was first published in 1926 by Cassell & Co, then republished in 1951 by William Heinemann.
