About This Item
Philadelphia, Chicago and Toronto: The John C. Winston Co.. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 12mo. 326 pages. Hardcover bound in tan cloth with a pictorial pastedown on the front cover and with spine designs in black and red. Moderate rubbing and wear to the binding. Pictorial endpapers. Early owner's gift inscription on the back side of the frontis reads, "Alfred Carpenter / from Aunt Alice / Xmas 1919." Text is toned but is generally clean. The only date on the copyright page is 1879, but the endpapers show an early airplane (much in the fashion of the original Wright Brothers' aircraft), so the actual printing date should be in the early 1900s and certainly no later than 1919. Other than the illustrated frontis, this is not an illustrated work.

About Pages Past Used and Rare Books
Pages Past is a small used & rare bookshop located a few blocks from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Since 1996 we have been serving the Triad community as well as customers from around the world. We have around 15-20,000 volumes in our shop. We specialize in North Carolina, Virginia, Civil War, Old Leather, Christianity, Eastern and Western Philosophies, and the simply unusual. We very likely have the oldest books in Greensboro; we keep a nice selection of antiquarian volumes and scholarly books.
