Buffalo: Phinney & Co., 1853 1853 printed on title page. VERY GOOD. A clean, solidly bound copy. The only marking is an owner name and date (May 24, 1855) penned on the front free endpaper - some of the inkhas blotted to the next leaf (a blank). Pages otherwise clean, complete and very good. 3 portrait plates, including tissue-protected frontispiece of Louis Napoleon. Bound in hardcover of paper-covered boards with decorative blind embossing on boards, gilt stamping on spine. Cover color is brown though it has likely faded/toned from the original color, possibly dark blue. A few small spottings and hinges are darkened, gilt on spine dulled. Binding and hinges intact. 5 x 7-3/4"' xii + 432 pages plus plates. First Edition Thus. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo.

Gold decorated spine is faded and edges are worn through. Gold title on spine is rubbed. Yellow endpapers and all pages are foxed. Frontispice is tissue guarded but foxed. There has never been so extraordinary a history as that of the Bonaparte family. Here are the memoirs and a sketch of French History and the distinguished involved. Illustrated. Nice tight binding .
