About This Item
London: W & R Chambers, 1954. Creasing and some tears to edges of price-clipped dustwrapper, bottom inch missing at the spine and also a piece from lower right-hand corner of front panel. Minor bumping to spine ends and corners of blue boards, some fading where the dustwrapper pieces are missing, original owner's Sunday School prize label dated 1956 inside front board, some yellowing to the pages, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. The story involves a girl from New Zealand who is the closest relative to the Gellibrand family of Dragon House on the Welsh border coming to claim her inheritance. Not a Chalet School story, but connected to the series in that the New Zealand girl Jesanne and her friend Lois appear in "Lavender Laughs at the Chalet School" in the sixth form. Originally published in 1946, this is a later reprint from 1954. 224pp.. Hard Cover. Good/Fair. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
