About This Item
Lot of vintage J.R.R. Tolkein paperbacks. The Hobbit, The Authorized Edition, the Enchanting Prelude to The Lord of the Rings, Houghton Mifflin Company, Dolphin Edition, with Ballantine Books, Revised Edition, 7th printing, May 1967. Name handwritten on first page, no other handwriting or markings. Printed on lower quality paper with heavy toning/aging/yellowing, cover soiling especially noticeable on spine. Accompanied by boxed set of The Lord of the RIngts, white box, with original $2.85 price tag. Box intact, with paper cover soiled especially on spine, paper covering peeling especially on top, rubbing especially on bottom. The three books, The Fellowship of the RIng (10th printing, March 1967), The Two Towers (8th printing, March 1967), The Return of the King (8th printing, March 1967) are all likewise Dolphin Editions. The Fellowship of the Ring has obviously been read, corners have creasing on cover, bumping, chipping. All three have handwritten name on first page. All three have toning/aging/yellowing typical of paper grade. Books 2 and 3 appear not to have been read and are tight and crisp.
