Published in Seoul, Korea in 1963. Hardcover book in dust jacket. Brown paper-covered boards with decorative white title box on cover, decorative black title box on spine. A few tiny spots of surface wear to edges. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Pages are clean with clean endpapers - no names, writing or marks. Cloth sewn in ribbon page markers. 17-page Introduction with Historical Note in both Korean and English by the author. 561 pages. Clean jacket is price clipped, has edge wear, one 3/4" closed edge tear; nice photo of author on rear panel; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A novel which tells the story of a close-knit Korean family who dedicate themselves to the salvation of their homeland, that tiny peninsula hanging like a golden fruit before the longing eyes of surrounding nations. The reader lives with them from the splendid era of Queen Min to the climactic days of World War II..
