Red cloth boards and spine with black lettering on the spine. 373 pp 8vo. Davis was a prominent black poet and journalist in the 1930s and 40s mostly in Chicago and Atlanta until he moved to Hawaii in 1948 and turned his back on his literary career causing him to disappear from literary history until the black history movement began in the 1960s. Davis devoted his life to self-empowerment through the written and spoken word and vigorous promotion of black expression through art and activism. A clean very presentable copy.
