About This Item

New Haven: Yale University Library, 1978. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition. Small quarto. Slight offsetting on front fly from a clipping, corners a little bumped, very good or better, probably issued without dustwrapper. Inscribed by co-author Lasselle to the actress Marian Seldes on the front fly. A small original gelatin silver photograph (2.5" x 3.5") of Kirstein by Carl Van Vechten has been affixed with tape (in the margin only) on the front pastedown and labeled along the edge of the image by the photographer: "L.K. [-] Carl Van Vechten." In the image Kirstein is pictured in front of a painting of a gondola, and clings to a long pole pretending to pole a gondola.
