London: Macmillan and Co, 1865. First Edition. Cloth. Fair. 301 p. 21 cm. Green cloth hardcover with gold and blank impressing. Corners bumped, cloth rubbed with a little light soiling. Hinges cracking internally. Pages have chipped and torn edges with thumbing. Bookplate on front free endpaper for J. Hardwick, Jun., Syston Park, Grantham, a house now demolished.

Topics include the unfortunate poet's success, fame, patronage, publications, descent into insanity, time in an asylum, etc.
