Whitney, an Illinois lawyer, was a friend and political ally of Lincoln before he became President. In this memoir, he recalls his time with Lincoln on the Illinois court circuit and during the first Presidential campaign. Howes W386. Scarce. With marginal notes in pencil on a few pages, and some discoloration on lower part of the spine, still a Very Good copy overall.
