New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1857. First American Edition. Original Cloth. Very Good +/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Both volumes in the publisher's original brown cloth with gilt lettering to the spines and stamped decorations to the boards. Advert for Books by the Author of "The Heir of Redclyffe" tipped in between the endpage and pastedown of volume I; Volume II has another advert for 3 other books. There is a little offset to the front pastedowns from the adverts. 14pp. of advertising split up between both volumes and bound in at the ends. There is some rubbing to the cloth on the boards and the spines, and a little to the outer page edges as well as to the pages toward the boards.
