Philadelphia: T.B. Peterson & Brothers, 1870. Hardcover, dark blue cloth lettered in gold, with gilt portrait of Dickens on spine. 484 pages, with 6 page article "The Dickens Controversy" and publisher's catalog appended. First edition One of the many posthumous biographies that were published the year of Dickens' death. Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece and a facsimile autograph. Variant blue cloth with gilt spine. No previous ownership marks. Boards are clean, gilt is bright and text is unmarked. Binding shows light wear to tips and very top of spine shaved. Tissue guard at frontispiece heavily foxed, albeit portrait is clean and title-page shows only one small spot. No underlining or marginalia. A very good copy. Podeshi H307.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good./Not Issued. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
