About This Item
Brentano's, New York. Good. This is the first ed. in cloth in two volumes, 1906, by Brentano's, of the Symington translation from Italian to English; gilt ornamentation on black boards and spine (somewhat faded) is Art Nouveau rather than Art Deco as in the 1929 ed.; wonderful full-page engravings within with tissue guards; deckle edges;TEG. The front gutter in Vol. I is cracked and there is small stain on lower inside edges of t.p. and first tissue guard. Vol. II appears not to have been read and is flawless withing. Neither volume has suffered much shelf wear--a bit of rubbing at crowns and feet of spines, slight bumping of corners.
